How long have you been on DeviantArt? - 2 years
What does your username mean? Nihilistic-hun. I liked the way it sounds. Some people think it is a bit harsh or a political statement or something, but that's not how I intended it. I love playing with words and their rhythm and sounds and thats all the meaning there is to it.
Describe yourself in three words. Spontaneous, unfocused, passionate
Are you left or right handed? Right
What was your first deviation? A photomanipulation of my husband on his motorcycle.
What is your favourite type of art to create? Large size mixed media that includes collaged japanese papers, inks and acrylics. Somewhat abstract but with realistic elements.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? Japanese block printing a la Hokkusai
What was your first favourite?
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? I'm not sure. I like every style of art on deviant. I think anything really colorful usually catches my attention.
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? I was thrilled that some deviants took the time to nominate me for a DD.
What are your preferred tools to create art? My fingers. I usually start with a paintbrush or knife but at some point in the process, I end up using my fingers to spread or move the paint. Clean up is a bitch.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? Outside. In my backyard beside the pond.
I must admit that I have a very short attention span. But that's not the only reason why my work looks so scattered and unfocused. The truth is I really like to play and experiment with different media, different tools and even different styles and subject matters. |
Even though it is hard to see, there is a common thread through all my art. I love to abstract and stylize, I prefer texture and grittiness. I like bold simple shapes, few details, dramatic colors and contrast. I am fascinated by myth, dreams and psychology so my works are often reflective or spiritual.
